Hello, Members of the Missouri Court Reporters Association!

And Happy Easter to Everyone!
Think Spring, My Friends, because Mother Nature is about to wake up from her Winter’s Nap and burst forth in another glorious miracle of Life! The grass will be turning green, the trees will be budding leaves and those beautiful spring flowers will be dancing in bloom to the celebration of another Spring Season!
MCRA wants to grow this Spring too! Our goal is to invite all of the Certified Court Reporters in the State of Missouri to join our association in 2008! We have sent out that gorgeous green form that will provide YOU with the $25.00 Convention Cash Coupon to discount your registration fees! I am personally asking each member to take the time to invite your friends! Your efforts will make all the difference! Please extend a warm welcome invitation today!
Please take out those pink highlighters and mark your calendars to enjoy the Lake of the Ozarks this Fall, as we have the MCRA Convention and Annual Meeting set for Saturday and Sunday, September 20-21, 2008, at the Lodge of the Four Seasons!
Now, take another moment to extend your highlighted dates to include Thursday, September 19th for shopping those outlet malls; Friday, September 20th for sleeping late and then making your reservations early for the Spa Shiki, located there in the Lodge; all so you will be rested and ready to enjoy your convention! A special MCRA discount of 15% will be extended on the Spa Shiki Swedish Massage treatments for Thursday and Friday appointments! Be sure to arrive early because the aroma therapy starts the moment you walk through their doors! Ahhhhh!

What a “Board Full of Blessings” I am enjoying with the artistic talent of Tiffany Hughes on the covers of PROGRESS; my miracle worker, Faith Olliges, who turns my problems into solutions; Dawn McTeer, who’s Minutes and information management skills are amazing; our Hero, Brett Harrison, who is protecting your hard-earned money with a keen financial eye; Sandy Stewart, who is guiding our decisions with her wisdom and experience; our Region VP’s: Barbara Burke, Gail Conaway, Stephanie Prewitt, Tracie Brumley and Stephanie Horrell, as they serve our membership to see that you receive career updates via e-mail, corresponding to their respective membership with a voice on the Board! Our lovely Mary Conway keeps MCRA’s website updated and within your reach 24 hours a day! These dedicated members give of their talents from the passions of their hearts and I am so blessed because of them! When you see these exceptionally hard-working people, please share those powerful words of “Thank You” for the gift of their talents.
Grand efforts were made to make “MCRA’s Love Your Legislator Day” a tremendous success in Jefferson City on February 12, 2008. The official reporters did enjoy the page rate increase in 2007, therefore, our mission was to express our gratitude for the outstanding leadership and dedication to the professionalism of the Certified Court Reporters of the State of Missouri!
NCRA is of tremendous assistance to the state associations by offering leadership training, legislative training, offering guidance and assistance on issues impacting our profession. Therefore, we are proud to send Tiffany Hughes, President-Elect and Faith Olliges, Vice President to the NCRA Boot Camp in Washington, D. C. on February 24 – 27, 2008. It is an intensive training session that will provide an exclusive focus on the court reporting profession.
Good luck to those students who are preparing for the upcoming CCR Test that will be given in Kansas City, Missouri on April 18th and 19th, 2008! Keep practicing and push your notes to perfection for the successful career of your dreams!
We often hear from our members who need to obtain a few more points before the June 30th CCR and NCRA CE Point deadlines. MCRA is working to provide YOU with an exciting opportunity to attend a hands-on software training for your CAT systems on June 14th, 2008, at the St. Charles Convention Center! This spectacular seminar will help to improve your writing and transcription skills so you can knock those transcripts out like a home run at Cardinals Stadium! Now, put on those red baseball caps and t-shirts because you will want to be in the box seats for this dazzling seminar!
In closing, I wish to Thank YOU for the honor of being your MCRA President for 2007-2008! I cherish the blessing of your kindness and support for our association.
